THE HEART OF OUR OFFICE
ABOUT METROWEST
Like most of central Florida’s towns and cities, Metrowest’s original landscape consisted of acres of orange groves. Aaron Dowd, VP of a Netherlands Antilles-owned company, envisioned a certain kind of community and bought 1800 acres of land from 23 landowners back in 1980 and 1981.
Out of them he created Metrowest.
It took five years of development (and an estimated $50 million worth of site and land prep) before tracts of land were saleable to developers and builders. Five years after that, 700 single-family homes were built or planned as well as 1,300 apartment units. An 18-hole golf course and lake-front living drew more home-buyers and residents.
In 2012, Metrowest won the Orlando City Beautiful Award for District 6 for its well-kept, aesthetically pleasing grounds and litter-free environment.
Residents of Metrowest find plenty to do right in the community, but they also enjoy their proximity to all of central Florida’s major and minor attractions.
A resident or their out-of-town guest can hop on the I-4 freeway and in just minutes be at world-famous attractions—all of the Disney parks, including Disneyworld, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot; Disney resorts; SeaWorld; and Universal Studios. A bit further away, but still in easy driving distance, are Busch Gardens; Cape Canaveral; and the Kennedy Space Center.
For those who like the outdoor scene better than commercialized funspots, central Florida has plenty to offer the resident and visitor alike. Florida’s beaches are perfect. There’s Cocoa Beach on the Atlantic side of the state and all of the Gulf beaches on the west side. Merritt Island National Seashore and other protected beaches give visitors chances to see birds, wildlife, and plants that are unique to our climate and location.
National forests, like the Ocala National Forest, and springs like Silver Springs and Wekiva Springs, expand the visitor’s playground.
Primary Care Pediatrics is delighted to serve the families of Metrowest and their guests. We know that kids get sick on vacation just like they do at home. We’re just a phone call and a short drive away. We take care of visitors’ kids so that they can get back to doing what they came here to do—have fun!
And of course, we’re always here for our resident families. Living in a vacation mecca doesn’t mean your kids don’t get sick. It just means they’re sick in a cool place.
If you’re not already part of our client family, and you’re not already established with any of the fine Orlando pediatricians or Central Florida Pediatric Care offices, please come by and meet us! We’d love to show you around our offices and get to meet you and your kids. That way, when they’re under the weather, coming to see us will feel much more comfortable for them.
So, Metrowest, pick up the phone and give us a call. Let us know you’re coming in so we can be ready to say hello!
